ILLINOIS — A Danville man was taken into custody following a police pursuit late April 2 during which officers recovered suspected illegal drugs and cash, according to authorities.
Police said officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop around 10:34 p.m. near East Main Street and Pennsylvania Avenue for traffic violations. The driver failed to stop, leading officers on a pursuit through multiple city streets.
During the chase, officers reported seeing items being thrown from the vehicle. Authorities later recovered suspected narcotics, including cocaine, ecstasy and cannabis, along with an alcoholic beverage.
The pursuit ended near English and Jackson streets, where the vehicle was safely stopped with assistance from the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department.
The driver, identified as 39-year-old Demitruis T.D. Davis, was taken into custody without incident. Police said a search also revealed a large amount of U.S. currency, and the vehicle was impounded.
Davis faces multiple charges, including delivery of methamphetamine, delivery of cocaine, delivery of cannabis, aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude police, and driving while license revoked.
No injuries or vehicle damage were reported. The investigation remains ongoing.
