OHIO — A man is facing charges after police say he was found hiding in the rafters of a North Side business early Friday morning.
According to a police report, officers were called around 12:10 a.m. to a business along Belmont Avenue for a report of a possible break-in. When officers arrived, they could hear someone inside the building.
Police surrounded the business and used a loudspeaker to order whoever was inside to come out, but no one responded.
Officers eventually entered the building and searched the lower level, where they found 43-year-old Michal Stanke hiding in the rafters. He was taken into custody without incident.
Stanke was booked into the Mahoning County Jail on fifth-degree felony charges of breaking and entering and possession of cocaine. Authorities said he is expected to be arraigned later Friday in municipal court.
According to reports, deputies discovered a bag of cocaine in Stanke’s pants while he was being processed at the jail. He was taken to a local hospital for evaluation before being returned to jail.
The case remains under investigation.
