ALABAMA — A Decatur woman has been arrested and charged after authorities say a child was exposed to controlled substances.

According to the Decatur Police Department, Michelle Renee Godsey was charged with chemical endangerment of a child following an investigation by the department’s Family Service Unit.

Police said the case began on Jan. 22, 2026, after a report of possible child endangerment. The investigation was conducted in coordination with the Morgan County Department of Human Resources.

During the investigation, detectives found evidence that a girl had been exposed to a Schedule II controlled substance, including methamphetamine and amphetamine, authorities said.

Officers made contact with Godsey at her home on Monday, where she was taken into custody without incident.

Godsey was booked into the Morgan County Jail. Her bond was set at $5,000.

The investigation remains ongoing.
