OHIO — A Bellefontaine man has been arrested following a reported home break-in late Monday night, according to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded just before 11 p.m. to a burglary in progress at a residence on County Road 11. The caller told authorities that 24-year-old Tariq Sopher had broken into the home.

The victim reported that she had a protection order against Sopher and had locked herself and her child inside a vehicle in the garage while the incident unfolded.

According to authorities, Sopher attempted to confront the victim at a bedroom window, damaged a kitchen window, and entered the garage before leaving the scene.

Deputies found evidence at the home, including forced entry through windows, along with tire tracks and footprints around the property.

Law enforcement searched for Sopher at several locations before he was located by Marysville Police shortly after 1 a.m. Tuesday at a residence in Marysville.

He was taken into custody and later transported by deputies to the Logan County Jail.

Sopher faces charges of burglary and violating a protection order. Authorities said he denied being at the residence and declined to provide a written statement.
