ILLINOIS — A 46-year-old man is facing multiple charges after police say he attempted to sell stolen property on Facebook Marketplace.
Monticello Police reported that on Friday they investigated the theft of property owned by the city. The stolen items were later found listed for sale online by Kevin Taylor, 46. Officers went to a local address connected to Taylor, where they recovered the stolen property along with a motor scooter reported stolen from Decatur.
While officers were still at the scene, Taylor arrived and was arrested. Police said he was carrying a stolen car battery taken from someone he knew.
Taylor has been charged with theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, and trespassing on state-supported property.
Authorities noted Taylor is currently on pre-trial release for burglary charges in Piatt County. He was charged in July with burglary from a Monticello business.
The case remains under investigation.
