SOUTH CAROLINA — A Greenville man is facing charges after authorities say he attempted to cash lottery tickets that had been stolen during a gas station burglary.
According to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), 34-year-old Zachary David Blackwell has been charged with intent to defraud and counterfeit game tickets. The investigation was requested by the South Carolina Education Lottery.
An arrest warrant states that on Feb. 3, Blackwell allegedly tried to cash in the tickets at a Spinx gas station. Investigators said the tickets were reported stolen during a burglary at the VGO store on Roper Mountain Road.
Law enforcement officials also reported finding additional items in Blackwell’s home that were believed to have been taken during the same burglary.
Blackwell was booked into the Greenville County Detention Center. The case will be prosecuted by the 13th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
