TRUMBULL COUNTY — A car accident in Howland Township, Trumbull County, claimed one life and left another person injured Monday night.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just before 7 p.m. when a 2002 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, traveling north on Pine Avenue SE, failed to navigate a curve.
The vehicle veered off the road, struck a guardrail, and then plunged into a ditch before flipping multiple times through the woods.
Both the driver and passenger, neither of whom were wearing seatbelts, were ejected from the car.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the passenger was transported to the hospital with injuries.
The accident closed a portion of Pine Avenue SE between Burton Street SE and Deforest Road SE.
Troopers are investigating speed, alcohol, and drugs as potential factors in the crash.
