One dead following police shooting on Ohio hiking trail

RAVENNA — The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) is investigating a fatal police shooting that occurred Tuesday morning in Ravenna.

According to the Ravenna Police Department, the shooting took place around 11:45 a.m. on Oct. 22 along the Portage Hike and Bike Trail. No officers were injured in the incident.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the section of the trail between Freedom Street and Loomis Parkway is closed until further notice.

BCI officials are currently interviewing witnesses, and Ravenna police have not yet released the identity of the deceased, pending further investigation.
