OHIO — A 25-year-old woman from Cleveland, Ohio, has died following a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 77 in West Virginia on Sunday, January 5, 2025.
The West Virginia State Police identified the victim as Ohio resident Alexis Vega.
Authorities report that Vega was driving southbound near mile marker 87 when she lost control of her vehicle and struck the concrete median barrier.
The collision left her car sideways, blocking both southbound lanes.
After exiting her vehicle, Vega was walking in the roadway when a passerby stopped to assist her.
While attempting to help Vega off the road, a tractor-trailer traveling southbound struck the good Samaritan’s vehicle and Vega.
Vega was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Her next of kin has been notified, according to police.
The crash remains under investigation by the West Virginia State Police.
