PORTSMOUTH, OH — A former teacher in the Bloom-Vernon Local School District has pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a minor student, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost announced today.
Caroline Johnson, 36, entered a guilty plea to two counts of sexual battery, charges that carry a potential prison sentence of one to five years for each count.
As part of her sentence, Johnson will also be required to register as a Tier Ill sex offender for the rest of her life.
Johnson, a former coach and intervention specialist with the school district, was indicted in December after an investigation by Yost’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation revealed that she had engaged in sexual activity with a minor during her employment with Bloom-Vernon Local Schools.
Johnson will be sentenced on November 25th.
The attorney general’s Special Prosecution Section is handling the case.
