OHIO — A Lakota East High School teacher has been indicted on multiple sexual battery charges following allegations of an inappropriate relationship with a student.
According to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, 42-year-old Justin Daniel Dennis is accused of engaging in a sexual relationship with a female student during the 2021-22 school year. He is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday.
Deputies said the victim, who was 17 at the time and a senior at the school, reported that she and Dennis engaged in sexual activity on multiple occasions and in various locations, including his classroom, home, and her workplace parking lot in Springdale.
Investigators also said the victim provided a text thread with Dennis discussing the alleged relationship.
Dennis was first arrested last month on a single count of sexual battery. The sheriff’s office noted he served as a teacher and advisor of a student assistance group that included the victim.
The Ohio Department of Education lists Dennis as having taught psychology, economics, and government, and he was also an advisor for the Hope Squad, a peer-support program, according to social media.
The investigation is ongoing.
