
OHIO — The Ohio State Board of Education is preparing to fill a key leadership role following the announced resignation of State Superintendent of Public Instruction Paul Craft.
According to the Board, Craft informed members during its January meeting that he intends to resign from his position no later than July 31. Craft has served as Ohio’s 40th state superintendent since 2023.
Craft’s career in education spans several decades and includes work as a physics teacher, coach, building administrator, and 11 years as a local school superintendent. In addition to his education background, Craft served a combined 31 years in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves and the U.S. Army.
With his departure announced, the Ohio State Board of Education has begun the process of searching for its next state superintendent of public instruction. The position has been posted on the Board’s website, and applications are now being accepted.
Officials said applications for the role will be accepted through February 5.
