Ohio sees several feet of snow in multiple areas

OHIO — Several dozen schools across Ohio’s snowbelt were closed Tuesday after relentless lake-effect snow brought substantial accumulations to the region.

As of late Monday, snowfall totals reached near-record levels in some areas, with Saybrook topping the charts at 56.7 inches, Geneva accumulating 47 inches, and North Madison measuring 43.5 inches.

Edgewood recorded 39.5 inches, while Ashtabula and Monroe Center each received over 34 inches.

Perry and Concord also saw significant snowfall, with totals of 25.1 inches and 27.2 inches, respectively.

A Lake Effect Snow Warning issued earlier was canceled before its scheduled end at 7 a.m. Tuesday.

However, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Wednesday afternoon through late Thursday night.

This alert covers Ashtabula County (both inland and lakeshore), as well as Cuyahoga, Geauga, and Lake counties, with more snow expected to impact the region.

Residents are urged to prepare for hazardous travel conditions as crews work to clear roadways and restore normalcy after the storm.
