Ohio resident sentenced for attempted strangulation

OHIO — A Medina County woman has been sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to attempted strangulation.

Laura Martz was sentenced to 12 months in prison by Judge Joyce Kimbler of the Medina County Court of Common Pleas on Thursday, according to a statement from the Medina County Prosecutor’s Office.

Martz was convicted of one count of attempted strangulation, a fourth-degree felony.

The charge stemmed from an incident in which she physically attacked the victim between April 1 and April 9, 2024.

She pleaded guilty to the charge in November 2024 before receiving her sentence.
