
FLORIDA — An Ohio man was killed and a woman critically injured in a motorcycle crash Wednesday afternoon in Alachua County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred as the pair was traveling south on County Road 231.
The driver, a 67-year-old man from Mentor, Ohio, drifted onto the right shoulder, lost control, and the motorcycle flipped.
Troopers said the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, a 74-year-old woman also from Mentor, suffered critical injuries and was taken to UF Health for treatment.
The report noted that the woman was wearing a helmet, while the driver’s helmet status remains unknown.
