INDIANA — An Ohio man was arrested Monday following a high-speed police chase in Marshall County that left an officer injured.
According to police, 33-year-old Kepree Allen was taken into custody after fleeing a traffic stop and leading officers on a dangerous pursuit. Allen faces charges of aggravated battery, resisting law enforcement, operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a controlled substance, reckless driving, and possession of marijuana.
Authorities said officers attempted to stop Allen’s vehicle for speeding, but he refused to pull over and fled as police initiated a pursuit. During the chase, Allen reportedly reached speeds of up to 130 miles per hour and committed multiple traffic violations, including driving the wrong way on U.S. 30.
Police said an officer was injured while deploying stop sticks during the pursuit. Investigators also allege Allen swerved his vehicle toward an officer, though the officer was not struck.
The chase continued along State Road 17 before Allen crashed his vehicle at the intersection of State Road 17 and Sycamore Road. After the crash, police said Allen fled on foot but was apprehended a short time later.
Allen was evaluated at a local hospital and later transported to the Marshall County Jail. He was issued a court date scheduled for later in February.
