An Ohio news reporter who was seriously injured in a shooting earlier this month is continuing to recover, according to her employer.
WOIO News Reporter Winnie Dortch was rushed to the hospital on Oct. 7 after being shot in the area of Clifton Boulevard.
Police were called to the scene after reports of an argument, and shortly afterward, shots were fired.
When officers arrived, they found Dortch and 34-year-old Bryant Carter on the sidewalk with gunshot wounds. Carter was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities are still investigating the circumstances leading up to the shooting and the nature of the relationship between Dortch and Carter. Police have confirmed that the two were familiar with each other.
“Winnie still has months of therapy ahead of her, but is doing well and can’t wait to get back to work!” WOIO said in a statement.
