OHIO — A postal worker is facing charges after deputies say she was found passed out while driving a mail truck in Braceville Township.

According to a police report, neighbors on Anderson Anthony Road NW called authorities around 2:20 p.m. Saturday after noticing a mail truck stopped at the end of their driveway with the driver unconscious inside.

Residents were able to wake the driver, but she drove away before deputies arrived.

Deputies later located the mail truck a short distance away after it had gone off the road and into a yard. Officers said the driver appeared intoxicated, showing signs such as glassy eyes and slurred speech.

When deputies asked if she had been drinking, the woman reportedly responded that she had. She initially refused to exit the vehicle and became combative with deputies, according to the report.

Once she exited the truck, deputies said she was unsteady on her feet and had to be lowered to the ground.

The driver was identified as 46-year-old Michele Kellar. She was arraigned Monday on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OVI) and is scheduled to return to court on April 2.
