OHIO — The Springboro Police Department has joined the Blue Envelope Program, an initiative aimed at improving interactions between law enforcement and drivers with autism spectrum disorder.
Several agencies in the area have already adopted the program, which provides a simple but effective tool to reduce stress and enhance communication during traffic stops.
The Blue Envelope is a specially designed holder for essential documents, including a driver’s license, registration, and a contact card.
The envelope features key communication guidelines to help officers recognize when a driver has autism and adjust their approach accordingly.
The program has four key goals:
To request a Blue Envelope, contact Officer Aaron Morgan at (937)748-6852 or aaron.morgan@cityofspringboro.com.
The department also plans to expand this effort further in the spring.
