TOLEDO — Toledo Police have arrested Deontae Mitchell, 27, in connection with a September shooting that left one man dead at a local restaurant.
Mitchell was taken into custody Wednesday and faces charges of felonious assault and murder.
The incident occurred on Sept. 14 at “This Is It BBQ” on Detroit Avenue.
Police say Isiah Pressley was standing in a crowd when Mitchell allegedly opened fire, striking Pressley in the face. Pressley was rushed to the hospital, where he later died.
Kenan Smith, who police allege acted as the getaway driver, was also charged with murder and felonious assault.
Authorities say Smith drove Mitchell around the block following an altercation at the restaurant.
He then parked near the bar, where Mitchell allegedly exited the vehicle and fired multiple shots into the crowd. The two fled the scene in a black Dodge Charger.
Smith has pleaded not guilty to the charges. Mitchell was arrested on Nov. 6 after a months-long search. He is scheduled to appear in court later this month.
