Ohio mother and daughter honored with award for buckling up, avoiding serious crash

Ohio State Highway Patrol

STEUBENVILLE — In a special ceremony Wednesday morning, the Steubenville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol presented Cierra and Lakin Cologie, a mother and daughter from Jefferson County, with the prestigious #SavedByTheBelt awards.

The awards were given in recognition of their decision to wear seat belts, which helped them avoid serious injury or death in a recent car crash.

By choosing to buckle up, the Cologie family exemplified the life-saving importance of using seat belts on the road.

The #SavedByTheBelt award is part of an ongoing effort by the Ohio State Highway Patrol to promote seat belt use and highway safety.
