Ohio man sentenced to 12 years in prison for meth and weapon possession

OHIO — Jamal Rashad Frazier, 32, of Columbus, has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison after being convicted of possessing methamphetamine and illegal firearms equipped with auto-conversion devices.

Auto-conversion devices, also known as “Glock switches,” convert a firearm into a fully automatic weapon, allowing an entire magazine of bullets to be fired with a single trigger pull.

Court documents reveal that in April and May 2023, Frazier sold methamphetamine and firearms with these illegal devices to undercover agents on several occasions.

During the investigation, Frazier was found to possess more than a kilogram of methamphetamine.

He sold four firearms, two of which were modified with conversion devices, and had three additional firearms when he was arrested.

Following his federal indictment, Frazier was taken into custody in June 2023.

He pleaded guilty in June 2024 to charges of possessing a machine gun and distributing 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.

The sentence, handed down on October 23 by Chief U.S. District Court Judge Sarah D. Morrison, was announced by Kenneth L. Parker, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio, and Daryl S. McCormick, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF).

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jennifer M. Rausch and Elizabeth A. Geraghty prosecuted the case.
