Ohio man sentenced for stalking singer

OHIO — An Ohio man accused of stalking a singer at her Murrysville home has pleaded guilty to two counts of stalking and defiant trespassing, according to Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole W. Ziccarelli.

Anthony Carpenter, of Rutland, Ohio, was arrested on May 21, 2024, after Murrysville Police responded to a stalking incident in progress at the victim’s residence.

Police said Carpenter, an obsessed fan, had repeatedly visited the property despite visible “no trespassing” signs and was caught on surveillance video walking around the premises.

Investigators revealed that Carpenter sent numerous letters to the victim, a member of a well-known band, professing his love and claiming he would not stop until he was with her.

The victim pressed charges in April after Carpenter was spotted trespassing on her property.

Days later, officers found Carpenter sleeping in Chambers Park, where he admitted he was in the area to declare his love for the victim.

Carpenter has been in custody without bail since his May arrest.

On December 2, Westmoreland County Common Pleas Judge Timothy Krieger granted him parole, giving him credit for time served.

Under the terms of his release, Carpenter must return to Ohio and is prohibited from contacting the victim or her family and visiting their property.
