OHIO — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred on November 7, 2024, at approximately 9:32 p.m. on Selma Road near York Street in Springfield.
According to authorities, a 2023 Ford Explorer, driven by 36-year-old Terry Hopewell, was traveling southeast on Selma Road while responding to an emergency.
At the same time, a 2007 Chevrolet Impala was also headed southeast on the same road.
As Hopewell attempted to overtake and pass the Impala, the Impala’s driver turned left onto York Road, leading to a collision between the two vehicles.
Hopewell sustained serious injuries and was transported to Springfield Regional Medical Center by Springfield EMS.
A passenger in the Explorer, 24-year-old Derrick Devore of Springfield, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was also taken to Springfield Regional.
The driver of the Impala fled the scene on foot.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Springfield Fire Division, Springfield EMS, Springfield Police Department, and Buckeye Towing and Recovery.
The crash remains under investigation by the Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
