OHIO — Michigan State Police (MSP) are searching for a driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run that killed a pedestrian from Ohio on Interstate 75 over the weekend.
Troopers responded around 7:45 p.m. Sunday after receiving reports of a person walking along northbound I-75 near West Grand Boulevard.
Shortly after, callers reported the individual was running in the freeway’s travel lanes, MSP said in a statement Monday.
When troopers arrived, they searched the area and found the man in the left lane.
Investigators believe he had been struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.
Medics pronounced the victim, a 42-year-old man from Twinsburg, Ohio, dead at the scene. His family has been notified, police said.
MSP First Lt. Mike Shaw said the incident remains under investigation.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the crash or the driver to contact the Metro South Post at (734) 287-5000 or Crime Stoppers of Michigan at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
