Ohio man arrested following shooting incident

OHIO — A Vinton man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly firing multiple gunshots at a residence on Keystone Road, Gallia County Sheriff Matt Champlin reported.

According to Champlin, the Gallia County 9-1-1 Center received a call at approximately 11:09 a.m. from a resident who reported that a man, identified as “Rick Burgett,” had stopped in front of their home and discharged a firearm multiple times at the property.

Deputies in the area quickly located the suspect’s vehicle, which matched the caller’s description.

The driver, identified as Richard L. Burgett, 54, of Vinton, Ohio, was detained without incident.

Authorities discovered evidence of the crime in plain view inside the vehicle.

Burgett was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Gallia County Jail.

Sheriff Champlin emphasized that the investigation is ongoing, and formal charges will be determined in consultation with Gallia County Prosecuting Attorney Jason Holdren.
