Ohio man arrested after argument over trash leads to shooting

OHIO — A man was arrested after a disagreement over trash disposal allegedly led to gunfire, police say.

Columbus officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 3400 block of Camp Chase Drive shortly after 12:30 p.m. on October 31.

Upon arrival, they found a woman with a gunshot wound to the backside of her right shoulder.

According to police documents, the incident began with a “large argument” over the disposal of bulk trash into an apartment complex dumpster.

The suspect, identified as 45-year-old Ira Roberts, allegedly retrieved several firearms from a nearby apartment and fired at the woman as she and her father attempted to drive away.

Detectives collected 25 spent shell casings at the scene, and portions of the altercation were captured on video.

Roberts was arrested and now faces two counts of felonious assault. He is set to appear in Franklin County Municipal Court for arraignment on Friday.
