OHIO — More charges are being filed against a man accused of smoking and selling marijuana inside the Hamilton County Justice Center.
According to the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office, 25-year-old Marquis Meatchem was caught smoking marijuana in his jail cell on March 9.
Deputies said Meatchem also had a plastic glove containing 13 folded papers, each filled with a small amount of marijuana. Investigators say he admitted the packages were meant for sale inside the jail, according to his criminal complaint.
Meatchem had been booked into the jail on March 6 on an assault charge, according to the jail docket.
He now faces additional charges including trafficking in drugs, possession of drugs, and illegal conveyance of weapons, drugs or other prohibited items onto the grounds of a detention facility, court records show.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office filed the charges based on a recorded interview with Meatchem, photos, video evidence and a lab report, according to the complaint.
