Ohio homicide, shooting suspect arrested by U.S. Marshals

OHIO — Early Wednesday morning, U.S. Marshals, in partnership with the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF), arrested 44-year-old Anthony Conner.

Conner had been wanted for a homicide in Cleveland and a shooting in Cape Girardeau County, Missouri.

Conner’s criminal activity dates back to December 18, 2023, when he was involved in a home invasion in Missouri, during which he shot a female victim.

The victim’s children were home at the time, prompting charges of domestic assault, possession of a firearm, and endangering children.

A warrant for Conner’s arrest was issued shortly thereafter.

On December 28, 2023, Conner is alleged to have committed a homicide in Cleveland.

Cleveland Police responded to a report of a shooting in the area of East 17th St. and Hamilton Ave., where they found a victim who had been shot multiple times. The victim later died at the hospital.

A warrant for Conner’s arrest was issued on January 20, 2024.

Conner was featured as the Fugitive of the Week by the NOVFTF on January 27, and after months of searching, he was located early this morning in an apartment in the 1400 block of Crestline Ave. in Cleveland.

He was arrested without incident, and a handgun with an extended magazine was recovered at the scene.

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott commended the public for providing valuable tips, stating, “This is a violent individual causing terrible harm in two different states. We are thankful to the public who called in tips after seeing this fugitive in the media. The partnership with the citizens of Cleveland, who want to see Cleveland a safer place, goes unmatched.”
