COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP — A 17-year-old boy from Strongsville has died following a crash late Sunday night on Columbia West River Road near Sprague Road.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP), the incident occurred around 11:04 p.m. when the teen’s 2011 Ford Fusion veered left of center while navigating a curve.
The vehicle then went off the right side of the road, struck a guardrail, and plunged down an embankment.
Emergency responders extricated the teen from the vehicle and transported him to Southwest General Health Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
The OSHP reported that the Columbia Township Fire Department and EMS, Strongsville police, and the Olmsted Township Fire Department assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
