OHIO — The Town and Country Fire District in West Salem is mourning the loss of Lieutenant Paul Mickolick, who died in the line of duty in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 19.

Mickolick passed away while performing his duties, faithfully serving the community he loved.

Lieutenant Mickolick was a firefighter, paramedic, leader, and public servant. He had 16 years of service with the Cleveland Clinic as a Flight Paramedic and 4.5 years of experience with the fire department.

His colleagues described him as someone who exemplified courage, integrity, and selflessness both on and off duty.

“Our department has suffered a tremendous loss. Lieutenant Mickolick was a mentor, a brother, and a true hero. His passion for the fire service and his deep-rooted dedication to this community will never be forgotten. We will honor his legacy by continuing to serve with the same bravery and compassion he showed every day,” said Chief Adam Hory of the Town and Country Fire District.

Lieutenant Mickolick is survived by his family, his fire service family, and many friends and colleagues.

His death is a reminder of the daily sacrifices made by men and women in public safety roles.

Details about memorial services, department honors, and how the public can support the Mickolick family will be shared in the coming days.

The fire district is asking the community to keep Lieutenant Mickolick’s family and fellow firefighters in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
