Ohio cracks down on human trafficking with large operation

OHIO — Ohio’s largest human trafficking operation, Operation END-OHHT, led to the arrest of 132 individuals, a collaborative effort of over 100 law enforcement agencies aiming to curb the demand for this heinous crime, as announced on Monday by Attorney General Dave Yost.

Running from October 6 to October 12, the operation spanned multiple cities, including Akron, Columbus, and Toledo, among others, tackling both minor and organized crime cases linked to human trafficking.

The operation resulted in charges against 110 buyers for prostitution or solicitation, with 22 facing felony charges involving minors or drug possession.

Authorities highlighted the diverse backgrounds of those arrested, aged between 21 to 71, illustrating the widespread nature of the issue.

Attorney General Yost emphasized the societal toll of human trafficking and the importance of accountability: “Our message is simple: Don’t buy sex in Ohio.”

The operation also successfully identified 74 survivors of human trafficking, channeling them towards necessary support and rehabilitation services.
