Officials searching for winner of $139.9 million Powerball jackpot in Ohio

Powerball

OHIO — Ohio Lottery officials are urging lottery players to double-check their tickets, as a $139.9 million Powerball jackpot from the July 3, 2024, drawing remains unclaimed.

The winning ticket, purchased at a Walmart Supercenter in Huber Heights near Dayton, could change someone’s life — but only if they come forward before the December 30, 2024, deadline.

The winning numbers were 02, 26, 33, 55, 57, with a red Powerball of 22. A Power Play multiplier of 2x was also in play.

Officials advise anyone who bought a ticket at the Huber Heights Walmart to carefully check their numbers, as the clock ticks down for the unknown winner.

Ohio Lottery rules give winners 180 days to claim their prize.

If the winner fails to step forward by the deadline, the prize money will be reabsorbed into the state lottery fund, losing them a life-changing fortune just in time for the holiday season.

To claim the prize, the winner should first sign the back of the ticket. They can then choose to mail it to Ohio Lottery headquarters or bring it in person, along with an official claim form.

The winner will also face a crucial decision: whether to take the jackpot as a lump sum or as annual payments over several years.

Financial experts continue to debate the pros and cons of each option, with the lump sum offering immediate investment potential and annuities providing a steady income stream.

For now, Ohio Lottery officials hope the mystery winner will emerge, transforming what could be a Christmas nightmare into a holiday dream come true.
