NORTH CAROLINA — Several school districts in western North Carolina have announced delays for Wednesday as officials monitor icy road conditions across the region.
Avery County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay. The adjusted schedule will allow additional time for road crews and bus drivers to assess conditions before students travel to school.
Madison County Schools announced a one-hour delay and stated that buses will not run on icy roads. Families who rely on bus transportation are encouraged to check with school officials for specific route information and plan accordingly.
Mitchell County Schools will also be on a one-hour delay, with no buses traveling on icy roads. Parents and guardians are advised to use caution when transporting students and to monitor official district websites and communication platforms for any further updates.
At this time, no additional closures have been announced, but school officials say they will continue evaluating weather and road conditions.
