NEW YORK — The National Weather Service has issued winter weather advisories for several regions in New York State, effective from Thursday, February 13, through Friday, February 14.
Residents are advised to prepare for significant snowfall and challenging travel conditions.
Wayne County: A lake effect snow advisory is in effect from 4 PM Thursday to 1 PM Friday. Total snow accumulations are expected to range between 4 to 9 inches in areas experiencing the most persistent lake effect snow bands.
Winds may gust up to 45 mph, potentially leading to reduced visibility and hazardous driving conditions.
Jefferson and Lewis Counties: The advisory remains active until 7 PM Thursday.
An additional 1 to 3 inches of snow is anticipated, accompanied by wind gusts reaching 45 mph. These conditions are likely to make travel difficult, especially during morning and evening commutes.
Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Southern Erie Counties: Residents should expect continued snowfall through 7 AM Friday, with an additional 4 to 8 inches possible.
Wind gusts could also reach up to 45 mph, increasing the risk of isolated power outages due to downed tree branches.
The National Weather Service advises motorists to exercise caution, as periods of heavy snow and strong winds can lead to rapidly changing road conditions and reduced visibility.
Travelers are encouraged to monitor local forecasts and plan accordingly.
