Nearly 80 students to face charges following incident at Ohio Kroger

OHIO — About 80 students from North College Hill will face disorderly conduct charges after a chaotic incident inside a Kroger store that was captured on video and shared on social media.

The video, posted by a shopper, shows a large group of teenagers running through the store on Feb. 18. Witnesses said merchandise was damaged and parts of the ceiling were also affected during the disturbance.

North College Hill police responded to the store and said officers restored order following what they described as “disorderly conduct and disruptive behavior.”

North College Hill Schools Superintendent Eugene Blalock said the district worked with police to identify those involved. Nearly 100 students were believed to have participated, and about 80 have been identified and will be charged, he said. Some students could face additional charges.

In addition to criminal charges, the students are facing school discipline, including out-of-school suspension.

Police and school officials said the incident stemmed from a student-led protest against Immigration and Customs Enforcement earlier that day at North College High School.

The investigation remains ongoing.
