
KENTUCKY — A large-scale drug enforcement initiative across Kentucky has resulted in nearly 200 arrests and the seizure of illegal drugs, weapons, and cash, state officials announced.
Dubbed Operation Summer Heat 2.0, the effort led by the Kentucky State Police (KSP) resulted in 197 arrests and hundreds of charges.
Over the course of the operation, troopers seized significant quantities of illegal substances, including:
- 3,002 grams of fentanyl
- 1,176 grams of cocaine
- 6,046 grams of methamphetamine
- 408 grams of heroin
- 600 fentanyl pills
- 97 hydrocodone doses
- 127 oxycodone doses
- 67 doses of hallucinogens
In addition to drugs, troopers confiscated 82 firearms, $181,381 in cash, and $200,000 worth of stolen property. The estimated street value of the drugs seized exceeds $640,000, according to KSP.
Out of the 16 KSP posts across the state, the Madisonville post reported 21 arrests, while the Henderson post reported 11.
The operation highlights ongoing efforts to curb the spread of illegal narcotics and reduce the impact of drug-related crime in Kentucky communities.
