SOUTH CAROLINA — Several schools in the Landrum and Campobello areas heightened security Thursday as deputies searched for a wanted individual nearby, according to the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said they were attempting to take the person into custody on Sunset Road near Spivey Creek Road when the individual ran after making threats of self-harm.
As a precaution, Spartanburg County School District One notified parents that additional security measures were in place at schools in the affected area.
The Sheriff’s Office has not released further details about the individual or the status of the search.
