SOUTH CAROLINA — School districts and colleges across South Carolina are announcing a range of closures, remote learning days and schedule changes for Monday, Feb. 2, 2026, in the wake of this weekend’s snowstorm and hazardous road conditions.

Many districts in upstate South Carolina are switching to remote instruction due to snow, ice and dangerously cold temperatures. Greenville County Schools will operate on e-learning Monday and Tuesday, with school buildings closed and all activities, including athletics and field trips, canceled as crews work to clear campuses and travel remains unsafe.

Greenwood School District 50 and Ware Shoals School District 51 also shifted to remote learning for Monday, with students expected to complete assignments from home. Laurens County School District 55 and other Laurens County schools are moving to e-learning, with teachers providing remote instruction and materials. Clemson Universityis conducting online learning activities Monday as well.

In the LowcountryCharleston County School District announced schools will be closed Monday and shift to e-learning, with all district offices closed and teachers providing instruction and support remotely as crews assess conditions and clean school sites. Officials said they will provide an update on Tuesday’s status as conditions evolve.

Districts in other regions of the state also reported changes. Schools in parts of the Midlands, including several Lexington and Richland County districts, are planning e-learning or closures due to hazardous travel and expected freezing conditions.

Officials emphasized that decisions are based on lingering snow and ice on roads and walkways, and families should monitor local district communications for possible updates late Sunday or Monday morning.

Parents and students are encouraged to check their district websites and local news outlets as more schedule announcements are expected throughout Sunday and early Monday, depending on weather conditions and road safety.
