Multiple schools in Pennsylvania announce closures for Wednesday

0

PENNSYLVANIA — School districts across Pennsylvania have announced a range of closings, delays and remote learning days for Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026, as communities continue to contend with snow and hazardous winter conditions following a major storm.

In the Philadelphia region, the School District of Philadelphia and many area Catholic and parochial schools will shift to virtual learning rather than hold in-person classes. Many districts in the Delaware Valley are either closed or operating on delayed schedules due to lingering snow and cold conditions.

In Butler County and surrounding areas, numerous schools will operate on adjusted schedules: several districts have announced two-hour delays, while others will hold remote learning days or remain closed. Specifically:

  • Two-hour delays: Allegheny-Clarion Valley, Clarion Area, Clarion-Limestone, DuBois Area, Immaculate Conception, Jeff Tech, Keystone, Lakeview, New Story Schools-DuBois, North Clarion, Punxsutawney Area, Redbank Valley, St. Joseph School (Lucinda), Union School Districts.
  • Closures/remote learning: Butler Area School District (remote), Butler Catholic School (closed), His Kids Christian School (closed), Karns City Area (remote), Moniteau School District (remote; extracurriculars canceled), St. Luke’s Lutheran School (closed).

Elsewhere in the state, other districts are reporting two-hour delays or cancellations, particularly in northern and central Pennsylvania, as crews continue snow removal and road conditions remain treacherous.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to check with their local school districts for the most current information, as weather and travel conditions may prompt updates to schedules on short notice.
