KENTUCKY — Continued winter weather impacts across Kentucky have prompted a number of public school districts to announce closures or adjusted learning plans for Wednesday, February 4, 2026, as slick roads and icy conditions persist in many areas of the state.
Widespread Closures:
Multiple districts across central, eastern and southeastern Kentucky have closed schools for Wednesday, citing hazardous travel conditions or continued winter weather challenges.
Districts reporting closures or remote learning plans include: Bourbon County Schools, Boyle County Schools, Casey County Schools, East Bernstadt Independent Schools, Estill County Schools, Garrard County Schools, Harlan County Schools, Jackson County Schools, Jackson Independent Schools, Jessamine County Schools, Knox County Schools, Laurel County Schools, Lee County Schools, Lincoln County Schools, Madison County Schools, McCreary County Schools, Montgomery County Schools, Pulaski County Schools, Whitley County Schools and Wolfe County Schools. Many of these closures include NTI (non-traditional instruction) days or snow days for students.
Delayed Starts:
Danville Independent Schools has announced a one-hour delay to start classes Wednesday due to weather conditions.
For many of these districts, remote learning or NTI days count as instructional days when snow and ice make in-person attendance unsafe, and extended closures this week follow a series of winter storm impacts earlier in the season. Families are advised to check directly with their local school district for the most up-to-date information, as conditions and decisions may continue to evolve.
