Multiple schools in Kentucky announce closures for Tuesday

KENTUCKY — Several school districts across Eastern Kentucky have announced schedule changes for Tuesday, February 24, 2026, due to winter weather conditions.

Floyd County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay Tuesday morning. Johnson County Schools, however, will remain on a regular schedule and plan to open as normal.

Multiple districts have announced full closures for the day, observing traditional snow days. Harlan County Schools, Jackson County Schools, Jenkins Independent Schools, Knott County Schools, Perry County Schools and Pike County Schools will all be closed Tuesday. Leslie County Schools and Letcher County Schools will also be closed.

Hazard Community and Technical College will operate remotely on Monday, with classes transitioning to virtual learning.

The decisions were made out of caution as crews continue to address snow-covered and icy roadways. Parents and students are encouraged to monitor official district communication channels for any additional updates.
