Multiple schools in Kentucky announce closures for Friday

KENTUCKY — Several school districts and early childhood education programs across Kentucky have announced closures and instructional changes for Friday, January 23, 2026, as winter weather continues to disrupt normal operations.

In Bath CountyBath County Head Start will remain closed through January 23. The closure will be treated as a Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) Day, allowing learning activities to continue remotely for enrolled students.

Frankfort Independent Schools also announced a closure for Friday, marking Non-Traditional Instruction Day No. 3for the district. Students will not report to school buildings, but lessons and assignments will be provided through remote learning platforms.

Several other districts are extending closures through the end of the week. Jackson County Schools will be closed on Friday, while Montgomery County Schools will remain closed through January 23, utilizing Non-Traditional Instruction Days No. 4 and No. 5. In addition, Montgomery County Head Start will be closed through Friday and will also operate under an NTI schedule.

Separately, the Black Male Working Academy announced that a scheduled activity for Saturday, January 24, has been canceled.
