GEORGIA — Schools across Georgia are adjusting schedules for Monday, Feb. 2, 2026, after a winter storm brought snow, ice and dangerously cold conditions to parts of the state this weekend.
Several north Georgia districts have already announced changes to normal operations. In some areas, school officials have shifted to remote learning or canceled classes to ensure the safety of students and staff as roads remain slick and hazardous from snow and ice.
In Middle Georgia, at least Johnson County Schools and others have already confirmed closures or a shift to virtual instruction for Monday, with schools advising families to check district websites and social media for the latest updates.
Many districts were monitoring conditions through Sunday, with some — such as those in Fannin County — stating they would make a final decision by early evening Sunday about Monday’s operations based on forecasts and road conditions.
In metro Atlanta, several school systems including Cobb County Schools and Fulton County Schools had already canceled extracurricular activities and were prepared to announce school status over the weekend as conditions evolved.
Officials have urged families to stay alert for additional announcements, as lingering snow, ice and extreme cold continue to affect travel and school bus routes across the state.
