OHIO — Ashtabula and Lake counties are grappling with several feet of snow after a powerful winter storm swept through the region.
With additional snow in the forecast, many school districts, universities, and businesses in Northeast Ohio have announced closures for Monday, Dec. 2.
Major School Districts Closed
Mentor Public Schools and Painesville City Local Schools have both canceled classes on Monday due to unsafe travel conditions. Other notable closures include:
- Berkshire Local Schools (Geauga County)
- Cardinal Local Schools (Geauga County)
- Chardon Local Schools (Geauga County)
- Madison Local Schools (Lake County)
- Riverside Local Schools (Lake County)
- Wickliffe City Schools (Lake County)
- Willoughby-Eastlake Schools (Lake County)
Private and Parochial Schools Impacted
Several private and Catholic schools are also closing their doors, including:
- Agape Christian Academy (Geauga County)
- Andrews Osborne Academy (Lake County)
- Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin High School(Geauga County)
- Mater Dei Academy (Lake County)
Colleges and Universities Affected
- Kent State University – Ashtabula Regional Campus is closed.
- Lakeland Community College (Kirtland Campus) will remain closed until noon.
Daycares and Other Facilities
Daycares and businesses, including the Harbor-Topky Memorial Library (Ashtabula County) and Small Hands Big Dreams centers in Kirtland and Mentor, have also announced closures.
