Multiple people arrested in connection to drug trafficking operation in Kentucky

KENTUCKY — Federal authorities announced the arrest of multiple individuals charged in a drug trafficking operation based in Louisville that allegedly crossed state lines into Detroit.

According to officials, law enforcement conducted coordinated raids last weekend at 10 locations in Louisville and five locations in Detroit. The locations were allegedly connected to organized criminal activity tied to large-scale drug distribution.

Following a years-long investigation, nine people were apprehended and are now facing federal conspiracy charges. Authorities said the charges carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in federal prison.

Six of the defendants are charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, 40 grams or more of fentanyl, and 500 grams or more of cocaine. Those defendants are Reginald Forsythe, 46; Damon Lewis, 50; Timothy McAtee, 46; James Henderson, 70; Crystal Adams, 54, all of Louisville; and Aiyisha Daniels, 43, of Detroit.

Three additional defendants — Isaiah Washington, 43; Chelsea Brown, 42; and James Leffler, 38, all of Louisville — are charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.

“We believe that Mr. Forsythe led a group of conspirators to receive drugs into the Louisville metro area and then to distribute them across both Louisville and then out into our surrounding counties,” said Kyle Bumgarner, U.S. Attorney for Kentucky’s Western District.

Officials said the operation is expected to contribute to a reduction in violent crime and improve public safety in the Louisville area.

The joint investigation involved local law enforcement agencies, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and federal prosecutors from the Western District of Kentucky.
