ALABAMA — Several suspects have been arrested in connection with multiple armed robbery investigations in Opelika, according to the Opelika Police Department.
On June 26, 2025, officers responded to a robbery at Color Vision Rent to Own on Pepperell Parkway. Police said the victim met two men in the parking lot to sell a firearm.
After briefly leaving to get cash, the men returned with a third individual. During the exchange, one of the suspects pointed a gun at the victim before leaving with both the money and the firearm.
The investigation led to the June 30 arrest of 20-year-old Kenyan Dashun Vann of Opelika on first-degree robbery charges. A 17-year-old from Auburn was also arrested on August 20 in connection with the incident.
Police said a second armed robbery occurred on August 18 in the 3500 block of Dale Avenue. Two victims reported that a U-Haul truck blocked their vehicle before two suspects got out, one pointing a firearm and demanding money. The suspects then fled the scene in the truck.
On August 20, detectives executed a search warrant and arrested 40-year-old Corey Sheve Cooper and 22-year-old Justin Martinez Monrell McGhee, both on first-degree robbery charges.
Vann, Cooper, and McGhee were transported to the Lee County Justice Center.
