Multiple people arrested following drug busts at Louisiana smoke, vape shops

LOUISIANA — A series of undercover compliance checks led Kenner police to uncover illegal drugs at three local vape and smoke shops, resulting in multiple arrests, authorities said.

The Narcotics Division, working with the Louisiana Office of Alcohol & Tobacco Control, reported the following:

2800 block of Williams Boulevard: Officers found “Lucid Journeys” gummies containing illegal chemicals. Employee Mahmoud Al-Soudani, 22, was arrested on a charge of intent to distribute.

300 block of West Esplanade: Investigators discovered a fake wall concealing illegal vapes, THC wax, mushroom chocolate bars, cash, and hidden drawers with kratom and THC pens. Employee Saadna Mohammed Labeid, 36, was arrested on charges including intent to distribute narcotics, transactions from drug offenses, and resisting arrest. An ICE detainer was also placed on him.

2500 block of Williams Boulevard: Police found 13 bottles of illegal liquid kratom in a glass case. The shop owner faces felony charges of intent to distribute.

Kenner Police Chief Keith Conley emphasized the department’s commitment to keeping the community safe. “These drugs, referred to as gas station heroin, are dangerous, and we’ll do everything in our power to keep Kenner safe,” he said.

Authorities said the investigations are ongoing.
