LOUISIANA — Several schools on the Northshore were placed on lockdown Wednesday afternoon after receiving vague threats, authorities said.
The Mandeville Police Department reported that officers responded to Mandeville High School following a threat made over the phone. The school was placed on lockdown, but police said the situation is under control.
Similar threats were reported at Hammond High School and Ponchatoula High School, prompting lockdowns at both campuses. A message sent to parents of Ponchatoula students described the threat as a “prank” and confirmed that the school was secure.
Authorities have not yet determined whether the threats are connected. The investigation is ongoing.
