Multiple inches of snow, windy conditions possible in Pennsylvania

PENNSYLVANIA — A winter weather advisory remains in effect across several areas of Pennsylvania until 1 a.m. Monday, with lake-effect snow, gusty winds, and slippery travel conditions expected, according to the National Weather Service.

In northwestern Pennsylvania, the advisory covers Erie County and Crawford County, including the communities of Corry, Titusville, Edinboro, Meadville, Union City, and Erie. Forecasters say additional snow accumulations of up to one inch are possible in these areas, along with wind gusts reaching 35 miles per hour. The combination of snow and wind is expected to create slick road conditions.

Farther south and east, a winter weather advisory is also in effect for the higher elevations of Fayette County and Westmoreland County, including areas such as Donegal, Champion, Ligonier, and Ohiopyle. These locations could see up to three inches of additional snow, with winds gusting as high as 35 miles per hour. The National Weather Service warns that heavier snow showers or squalls could briefly reduce visibility.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission are urging motorists to use caution, follow any travel restrictions, and delay unnecessary travel. Drivers are encouraged to check current road conditions through the state’s 511 travel information system.

Officials advise residents to slow down while driving and be cautious when walking on potentially icy sidewalks, stairs, and driveways as winter conditions persist through the overnight hours.
